About Me

I am excited about the possibility of entering in to a coaching relationship with you. Let me tell you more about myself and the experiences I bring to Christian Life Coaching:

CHILDHOOD: My parents were missionaries. I moved with them to West Africa when I was 6 years old. I grew up speaking French though much of it has been buried by the Spanish I learned as an adult serving as a missionary in Latin America. When I graduated from High School, I returned to the States to attend college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I attended seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. I hold degrees in music from both.

FAMILY: As I hope you can tell from the picture above… WOW… did I ever get lucky in love! My lovely wife Karen and I have been married since 1987. We have three wonderful children, two girls and a boy. If you have kids, you’ll understand this: I never cease to be amazed at how different three kids from the same family can be–sports, music, book worms, etc.–ours represent their own unique blends of personality, interests and talents. I am so proud of each one!

MINISTRY: Between my college and missionary years, I served churches in a variety of ways–Minister of Youth, Music and/or Education–in Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico. On the mission field (Dominican Republic), I had the privilege of starting churches, youth camps and regional institutes of Christian music. Eventually, I served in a position in which I had the privilege of coordinating the strategic direction of the mission. For about three years in the middle of all that, I served as the music evangelism strategist for Latin America and as one of the music editors at the Baptist Spanish Publishing House in El Paso, Texas. I have numerous music compositions and arrangements published and/or recorded in both English and Spanish. Today, I joke that the decision to be a Christian High School teacher was driven by the fact that it was the only ministry related position I had never held before.

BUMPS AND BRUISES: As fun as my life experiences have been, I’ve also had my fair share of bumps and bruises along the way. In 2003, our family left the mission field to deal with some very painful issues. Life came to an abrupt halt. Years of healing and restoration followed. Thankfully, what began in heartache and tragedy, God has used to bring about blessing. Today, I serve as one of the lay counselors in the pastoral counseling center of our church and as a leader in our men’s ministries. I am passionate about giving back–ministering to others who are hurting and in need of help. I’ve discovered coaching to be a wonderful way to do that.
